Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Santa Cruz, California. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play an integral role in managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. You will work closely with our HR and accounting teams to streamline operations and maintain accurate employee data. Responsibilities: • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for weekly and biweekly cycles • Oversee payroll functions for state and federal government projects, adhering to all relevant regulations • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for government-funded projects • Manage and maintain accurate payroll records, including details of employee earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings • Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries, providing updates on payroll processes as needed • Monitor changes in payroll laws and implement relevant updates • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure accuracy of employee data and streamline payroll operations • Maintain compliance with prevailing wage laws and provide accurate reporting for government projects. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role. • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems. • Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions. • Proven skills in Auditing. • Solid knowledge in handling Benefit Functions. • Familiarity with QuickBooks. • Possession of Certified Detail Oriented Payroll (CPP) certificate is a plus. • Experience in managing Payroll for under 100 Employees. • Demonstrable expertise in various Payroll systems and procedures.
