Description
Robert Half is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our client's team in the West Metro area. This role will involve processing weekly payroll for union and non-union employees, overseeing benefit administration, and ensuring timely reporting for our client's growing construction company. We are seeking a minimum of 2 years of union payroll processing experience, preferably within a construction environment.
Responsibilities:
+ Review and import employee time entries from time tracking systems and manual timesheets into payroll software.
+ Process and post weekly payroll for both union and non-union employees.
+ Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee documents and payroll reports.
+ Update and verify all necessary information for new hires and rehires in the payroll system.
+ Exercise professional judgment and critical thinking to identify, communicate, and reject fraudulent information to protect sensitive data and company assets.
+ Administer wage garnishments, such as child support, tax levies, and court-ordered deductions, and ensure timely reporting to appropriate agencies.
+ Manage and enter employee allowances, such as vehicle and cell phone reimbursements.
+ Review and process back pay adjustments as needed.
+ Maintain and update paid time off (PTO) balances and monthly accruals.
+ Submit certified payroll reports to agencies as required.
+ Prepare and file quarterly payroll tax returns.
+ Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, customers, and external agencies.
+ Register and set up new state withholding and unemployment accounts as needed.
+ Calculate and remit contributions for 401(k) and profit-sharing plans on a weekly basis.
+ Collaborate with team members and provide support for additional tasks as required.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
+ Minimum of 2 years of union payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry.
+ Strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and union contract rules.
+ Experience with payroll software (e.g., Procore, Sage 100, or similar).
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
+ Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Benefits:
+ Salary Range: $55K-$75K.
