Description We are offering a contract for a Payroll Specialist role in Chesapeake, Virginia, 23320, United States. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be handling various tasks related to payroll processing, such as ensuring accurate and timely payroll, managing payroll benefits, and ensuring correct payroll tax procedures are followed. You will also be responsible for resolving payroll-related queries and maintaining accurate payroll records. Responsibilities: • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. • Review and resolve discrepancies in timesheets. • Ensure proper onboarding of new employees to the payroll system. • Communicate effectively with both employees and management to answer payroll-related questions. • Apply guidelines related to multiple state payroll. • Oversee payroll benefits including 401k, pension, union CBAs, etc. • Process Garnishments, Liens (Child Support), and Withholdings. • Manage and reconcile multiple ERP systems. • Ensure adherence to correct payroll tax procedures. • Use advanced Excel functions for payroll processing. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role • Proficiency in 401k - RRSP administration • Demonstrable experience in various accounting functions • Familiarity with benefit functions • Proficient in using ADP for payroll • Experience with payroll for unionized employees • Ability to perform account reconciliation • Knowledge of child support procedures • Understanding of withholdings, liens, and other deductions • Experience with multi-state payroll • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint software • Proficient in Microsoft Excel • Experience in onboarding new employees Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
