Description We are seeking a diligent Payroll Specialist to join our team in the non-profit industry, located in Baltimore, Maryland, 21202-3426, United States. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity, where you will be expected to manage and resolve complex payroll transactions, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate payroll data while also training staff in payroll processing tasks. Responsibilities: • Work closely with agencies and managers to address and resolve any payroll issues • Ensure accurate and efficient processing of on cycle and off cycle payments • Conduct thorough checks and reconciliations of payroll data to prevent inaccuracies • Handle inquiries from payroll team members • Assist with the review of payroll • Monitor and track off cycle payments for leave payments • Maintain and update payroll data and employee records, including timesheets • Participate in payroll-related meetings and discussions Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a payroll position. • Proficiency in payroll software, with a focus on data entry and processing. • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly. • Excellent mathematical and numerical skills to handle large amounts of data. • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with employees and management. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. • Ability to understand and apply current tax laws related to payroll. • Strong problem-solving abilities to resolve payroll discrepancies. • A commitment to providing excellent customer service to all employees regarding payroll issues. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Willingness to stay updated on new features and functionalities of payroll systems.
