Payroll Manager
Classification Title:

Manager, Accounting

Job Description:

Technical & Operations:

Assist with the management of all payroll processing functions Creates payroll schedule to support campus and state deadlines Resolves payroll errors Ensures biweekly ACH files are reported timely and accurately Reviews emergency checks, leave cashouts, journal entries, pay retros, payroll calculations and query analysis

 

Communications and Customer Service:

Manage daily interactions with departments and personnel regarding their Time and Labor questions. Maintain collaborative relationships with key University, State, and Federal Agency stakeholders and colleagues to enhance relations and engagement through the distribution of clear and consistent communications. Proactively analyze current processes, recommend solutions to leadership, and support implementation. Ensure that departmental documents and training materials are up to date and meet current standards set by the administration

Leadership

Provides guidance for direct reports Assists with continuous improvement efforts of the entire team

Other duties as assigned by the department leadership Expected Salary:

$70,000 - $75,000

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the payroll rules and regulations in addition to the human resource rules and policies as they affect payroll processing and payment functions and payroll accounting entries.  A thorough understanding of the accounting systems, payroll tax withholding, and tax reporting requirements.

Ability to work and maintain effective working relationships with others; to understand, interpret, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; to analyze and solve problems, interpret and recommend solutions or changes; to effectively communicate in writing and orally; to work with limited supervision; to be reliable, and to work both in a team and independently, proficient in Microsoft Office.
