Payroll Jr Manager

The Payroll Manager manages the day-to-day operations at national level, providing support and transactional services to employees, HR Generalists and Managers across the region. This role is accountable for the service performance, control indicators, operational definitions, and models.

As a Leader, the Payroll Manager is a role model on behaviors, highly involved on its career development, providing constant guidance and feedback at a personal level. Active participation on Continuous Improvement and Service Evolution initiatives is required. Owner of all processes derived of a Payroll Process in Mexico (including and not limited to accounting, fiscal, legal, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance through internal controls, legal knowledge (IMSS, INFONAVIT, FONACOT, SAT, Social Security Law), and tax calculations.

Collaborate with payroll vendors, HR, IT, Tax, and Accounting teams to resolve payroll issues, implement changes, and manage payroll-related systems.

Address employee inquiries on payroll matters (taxes, overtime, bonuses) and provide expertise on complex payroll situations.

Optimize payroll processes by reducing costs, improving efficiency, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.

Oversee payroll-related financial aspects, including monthly closures, labor liabilities, and fiscal audits in partnership with external firms.

Lead and develop payroll team members, ensuring standardized practices and individual accountability.

Expert in the calculation and strong legal knowledge in IMSS, INFONAVIT, FONACOT, IDSE, SUA, SAT, Social Security Law for each state in Mexico (31 states), be updated in legal changes.

Ensure no mistakes in payroll process before government agencies and fix past errors of previous administrations to be align with government request.

Education: Bachelor degree in Economics, Administration, Accounting or related

Experience:

8 to 10 years of experience in Payroll processes (end-to-end)

Expertise in Mexico´s payroll

4-5 years of experience leading team – People Management Skills (8 Persons).

Relationship and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in core HR operations processes.


Computer skills: Payroll Software Knowledge (ERP, SAP, Kronos, People Soft & Workday)

Language:
English – Advanced
Portuguese - Desirable

Travel Required: Yes, to other locations (Cuernavaca, Toluca, CDMX and Aguascalientes)

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Skilled in sheets and manipulation of data

Show strong program oversight project management capabilities and anticipate risks/issues.

Strong knowledge of general ledger to support accounting inquiries and resolve reconciling items related to payroll.

Ability to identify process improvements and escalate.

High Analytical and Problem-Solving skills. Able to develop & apply reporting tools, ad-hoc queries to drive root cause analysis and mitigation actions as required.

Ability to follow up on the department's cases and projects.

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion.

Ability to absorb and interpret complex information.
