Payroll Accountant
Description We are on the lookout for a meticulous Payroll Accountant to be a part of our team. Situated in Columbia, South Carolina, this role involves tasks in the Education sector. As a Payroll Accountant, you will be entrusted with handling accounting functions, managing accrual accounting, and conducting audits. This role offers a long-term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Effectively manage and execute all accounting functions • Conduct comprehensive audits to ensure accuracy and compliance • Oversee and maintain accrual accounting processes • Utilize accounting software systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency • Handle payroll related tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness • Use ADP Workforce Now and Ceridian systems for various financial services • Act as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and issues • Monitor and maintain accurate customer credit records • Process customer credit applications with accuracy and efficiency • Take appropriate action based on the monitoring of customer accounts. Requirements • Proficiency in various accounting functions, including the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of financial records. • Strong understanding and experience with accrual accounting, demonstrating the ability to record transactions and adjustments accurately. • Expertise in auditing, with a focus on identifying discrepancies, ensuring compliance, and implementing corrective measures. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. • Proven work experience as a Payroll Accountant in an educational institution or similar environment. • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll-related tax laws and regulations. • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to handle large datasets and complex calculations. • Proficiency in using payroll software and other related accounting systems. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy. • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including employees, management, and external auditors. • High level of integrity and confidentiality, with the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
