What you’ll do
Our Technology team plays a critical role in our evolution, specifically as we transition to an omni-retailer where digital complements the physical. As a member of the Canadian Tire Bank Payment Processing Delivery team, you will help lead our efforts to design and build key merchant payment solutions and capabilities. You will work closely with business teams to understand requirements and guide our technical and delivery leads to build reliable and scalable solutions that meet business needs.
This is a hands-on solution architect role. We are looking for candidates who will act as a lead for all aspects of application lifecycle (Design, Development, Testing, Deployment and Support).
In this role, you will:
+ Lead the design of mission critical solutions supporting our core eCommerce and Point of Sale payment platforms and support team members that are building them
+ Lead the design, implementation and deployment of on-premise applications being migrated to cloud
+ Provide leadership to teams on architectural best practices, patterns and how to apply them to solutions
+ Act as a lead resource through the application development lifecycle – tackling the most difficult problems.
+ Build cross functional relationships within the organization and as well with external partners to deliver on CTB payments strategy.
+ Design solutions that utilize common integration patterns (Async vs. Synchronous) and suggest new patterns when appropriate.
+ Develop, deploy and test Java application code in a distributed environment.
+ Lead solution discussions with multiple team members and drive the discussion and outcomes
+ Understand and apply application security, organizational risk, and PCI compliance principles to architectural solutions.
+ Create architectural artifacts, coach, mentor, and encourage team members.
+ Dive deep to troubleshoot when needed and clearly communicate your findings and proposed solutions.
+ Be excited by new technologies and look for opportunities to bring them in to the solutions.
+ Be comfortable presenting solutions to Executives and sharing ideas with Developers.
What you bring
+ Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
+ 7+ years I.T. experience in progressive application development, analysis and design related positions.
+ 3+ years I.T. experience working in an architect/system design role.
+ K nowledge in all areas of software development and architecture, with a focus on applications and a comfort with infrastructure, data design/modelling, CI/CD, Azure Cloud, and integration patterns
+ Experience building and supporting merchant payment solutions.
+ Expert knowledge of Java and JavaEE applications.
+ Expert knowledge in payment processing (Transaction authorizations, payment switching, alternative payment methods, transaction settlement and reconciliation, ISO8583, ISO20022).
+ Experience with modern stacks including cloud and microservices.
+ Experience interpreting and applying security best practices to create, harden and secure infrastructure and applications.
+ Experience with batch and API based system to system integrations.
+ Experience using and developing RESTful and SOAP services.
+ Experience with relational database platforms (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle).
+ Understanding of TLS/SSL, encryption, and key management principles
+ Adept at balancing the immediate needs of a project (business requirements and business strategy) with Enterprise Architecture standards and the declared IT target state to achieve a win-win situation.
+ Experience working closely with both Business and IT stakeholders, and proven experience in building and managing professional relationships and consensus-building throughout all levels of an organization.
+ Experience working with ACI Postilion payment platforms would be considered an asset.
+ Experience with card brand payment certifications would be considered an asset.
+ Experience with identity management, authentication, and authorization would be considered an asset.
+ Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Exceptional skills in facilitating meetings, interviewing, probing, and influencing others
+ Ability to create and deliver effective presentations and briefings up to Senior Management / Executive levels.
+ Demonstrated thought leadership and passion for your work.
+ Demonstrated ability to think and communicate in both abstract and concrete concepts, and to do so appropriately for the audience.
+ Working knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Agile/SCRUM project approach.
