Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Support Associate-Central Nursing-Day Shift (35 Hours).
In this role, the successful candidate The Patient Support Associate, under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager, and in cooperation with all members of the patient care teams, assists in maintaining the condition of the unit's physical environment; sets up equipment and supplies for selected patient care activities; performs a wide range of customer relations tasks, complies with applicable regulatory functions; and conducts supply functions to fully support patient care activities on the assigned unit.
Job Responsibilities:
Removes linen from patient care areas and assists in changing linen on unoccupied patient beds.Distributes water pitchers, cups, and straws as directed by the RN.Assists in the management of patient belongings by conducting an inventory, securing and transporting patient belongings.Performs patient transport of discharged patients on occasion to meet our target of discharge before noon.Prepares patients through notification and place said patient on mode of transportation prior to patient transport arrival (Future scope)Assures adequate inventory of patient care suppliesRemoves waste as needed within patient rooms and only when overflowing and BSD personnel are not readily available. Assists with food service to insure patient tray return from patient room.Redistributes supplies within the unit and maintains pars across clean supply room (including secured intravenous solutions and medication preparation supplies), nurse servers, patient rooms, unit-specific carts (e.g. dressing carts) and other point-of-use areas.Retrieves supplies (e.g. emergency supply requests, supplemental patient supply deliveries), from Pneumatic Tube, Central Distribution and replenishes to appropriate locations or assigned nurse. Retrieves supplies from the service corridor and replenishes appropriate locations.Redistribute medications that they pick up from the pneumatic tube system.Picks up and drops off medications from the inpatient pharmacy.Notifies SCM / Logistics Manager of non-par stocked specialty order needs.Performs regular regulatory compliance rounds (e.g. Supply expiration checks. Ensures supply locations are clean, orderly and free of loose trash and supply bins are free of dust or dirt and are not damaged).Facilitates exchange of emergency code carts and intubation boxes to/from Pharmacy, Central Sterile Processing, Central Distribution.Transport of clinical equipment to and from various departments (e.g. Clinical Engineering, Central Sterile Processing)Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention standards.Cleans spills and unit-based equipment and stores as instructedAssembles, locates and maintains unit specific equipment (e.g. trapeze, CPMs, Hip Chairs)Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school education or its equivalent. Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities. Expected to perform the job satisfactorily within 3 months.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50,854.95 - $50,854.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
