Patient Care Technician - PCT
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **Position Purpose:** The Patient Care Technician provides technical skill and support for the Emergency Department and provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric emergency department patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. **What You Will Be Doing:** + Assists with patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs. + Supports a plan of care throughout patient’s stay. + Provide input/data on changes in the patient’s condition to the professional nurse. + Supports the discharge plan based on health center/department policy, and patient/family needs. + Records patient information in the electronic/paper medical record in an accurate/timely manner. + Communicates patient information to the appropriate coworker effectively. + Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in the provision of patient care to achieve desired patient care outcomes. + Recognizes personal learning and development needs. Participates in developing their yearly performance goals. + Creates a plan for professional/personal growth. + Supports learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family. + Provides for patient comfort, safety, and protects dignity, privacy and confidentiality. + Communicates with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic and professional manner **Hours:** **Full Time - Nights/ 36 hours weekly / 6p- 630a** **Minimum Qualifications:** + Nurse aides experience desired; previous acute care setting preferred. + OR currently enrolled in an A.D.N., BSN, program with successful completion of first semester of A.D.N. program. + OR first year completion of nursing courses in BSN. + OR graduate of an A.D.N., BSN or LPN program. + Nursing Assistant experience preferred. + Must provide proof of **Basic Life Support** (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status. + Completes **Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse** requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years. **Position Highlights and Benefits:** + Education Assistance offered + Effective Day 1 Benefit Package (Medical, Dental, Vision, and more) for positions 16 hours per week or greater + Competitive wages; including weekend and night differentials + Generous paid time off program + Retirement Savings program with employer match starting on Day 1 **All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of references, background checks, pre-employment physical, drug screen and post offer exam.** **EEO Employer F/M/Veteran/Disabled.
