Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Med/Surg Observation - Days
Departmental Overview Compensation / Benefits $13.21-$21.58/hr depending on previous work experience. Evening differential $1.50/hr. Night differential $1.75/hr. Weekend differential $1.75/hr. Our Medical Surgical Observation Unit is a fast paced 16 bed telemetry/medical-surgical unit. Common problems seen in our unit include chest pain, syncope, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, and diabetes. Our nurse to patient ratio ranges from 4-6 patients depending on acuity. Our patient care tech ratio can range from 8-16 patients. Our care team includes a Charge Nurse, staff nurses and patient care techs with support from respiratory, lab, and case management departments. We orient new patient care techs with a 4-6 week orientation program with a dedicated preceptor team. Job Summary Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Qualifications Education High School diploma or equivalent GED. Completion of a recognized patient care training program or one clinical semester of nursing school preferred. Experience Required to be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must have a minimum of six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for this requirement. (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure / Certification Basic Life Support *(BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
