Patient Access Specialist - Boise 23rd (Bilingual Preferred)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES \n

This position is responsible for greeting, directing, and assisting patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner throughout their visit. Scheduling and registering patients, including the accurate collection of required data. Staff will also determine eligibility for services, and counsel patients regarding payment policies, monitoring, and collection of monies due. The Patient Access Specialist is also responsible for the overall management of the waiting room atmosphere, keeping patients informed about wait times, and ensuring a comfortable and clean waiting area.\n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES\n\nEnsure that proper customer service is being delivered at all times.\nManage the phone system; including: answering multi-line phones, triaging patient needs and requests, and managing staff messages.\nSchedule and ensure that appointments are confirmed. \nEnsure patient demographics are accurate and up to date when scheduling an appointment and upon patient check-in.\nComplete data entry into the PM system, which includes scanning and entering all necessary registration records for each patient.\nComplete chart preparation, as needed.\nManage necessary financial and insurance records on all patients, based upon eligible program and\/or insurance coverage. Ensure information is updated in the PM system.\n\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\n\nAbility to provide strong customer service to a complex patient population.\nGood verbal and written communication skills. \nBasic bookkeeping skills cash handling, posting charges, and deposits.\nAbility to navigate multiple computer software programs including EHR, Microsoft Office products, scanners, calculators, and multi-line telephones.\nMust be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.\n\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nExperience as a receptionist in a medical, dental, or social services setting.\nStrong bookkeeping or accounting skills.\nStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.\nBilingual abilities (English\/Spanish).\n\n
