Pathology Assistant – PRN Zip Code: Houston, TX  77030 | Location: Medical CenterEmployment Type: Temporary | Workplace Type: On-siteHealthcare Specialty: Laboratory | Salary: $85-$90 an hour One of the premier laboratories in the Houston Medical Center is seeking a Pathology Assistant who will supports pathologists in the preparation, examination, and diagnosis of tissue samples in a laboratory setting.  If this is your time to make a difference in your community, apply today! Pathology Assistant’s ResponsibilitiesAssist pathologists in the dissection and preparation of human tissue specimens for analysis.Perform gross examination of surgical specimens to identify pathology and document findings.Prepare tissue samples for further processing, including embedding in paraffin or other preservation methods.Accurately document patient and specimen information in laboratory information systems.Maintain detailed and organized records of specimen handling and processing.Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by cutting, staining, and mounting slides.Ensure that all specimens are processed according to established protocols and quality control standards. Pathology Assistant’s QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., biology, health sciences, or medical laboratory technology).Master's degree in pathology assistantCompletion of a Pathologists’ Assistant program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required.Previous experience in a pathology laboratory setting or healthcare-related field is desirable.Familiarity with gross anatomy, histology, and pathology procedures is advantageous.Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Pathologists' Assistant (PA(ASCP)) is required.Complete a NAACLS accredited program  Company Culture & PerksLocated in the Medical Center – Park & Ride or Metrorail accessible.Work Schedule: Flexible, PRN – days, evenings or weekends – whatever works for your schedule!During employment with Team1Medical Staffing, you can enroll in our benefits program, including medical (3 plans to choose from), dental, disability, critical illness, life, vision, accident, and behavioral health insurance.
