Description:

As a Pathology Assistant at Holy Cross Health you will play a crucial role in our pathology laboratory, supporting our pathologists in diagnosing diseases and conditions. You will be responsible for various laboratory and clinical tasks, including specimen handling, processing, and analysis. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment and contribute to cutting-edge research.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct gross examinations and complex dissections of tissue samples, documenting relevant characteristicsCollect and prepare tissue specimens, bodily fluids, and other samples for analysis.Assist pathologists in preparing tissue slides for microscopic examination.Maintain accurate records of specimen information, test results, and patient data.Collaborate with healthcare providers and laboratory staff to ensure efficient specimen processing.Contribute to quality control and quality assurance activities in the laboratory.Stay updated with advancements in the field of pathology through ongoing education.

Qualifications:

Experience in the field with appropriate educational background (Master's degree in Pathology or a related field preferred).Certification as a Pathology Assistant (PA) or eligibility for certification preferred.Strong knowledge of anatomy, histology, and pathology principles.Proficiency in anatomic laboratory techniques, including frozen section and permanent specimen preparation.Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Commitment to laboratory safety protocols and ethical standards.Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion.
