Nelson Mullins, an Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking a Patent Agent with an engineering degree and/or computer science degree with at least two years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution to work with attorneys in our Intellectual Property group. This is a hybrid office/remote position for the Charlotte, Minneapolis, or Boston office, with an aim for being in the office 1-2 days a week.
A Day in the LifeAs a Patent Agent, you will collaborate with attorneys and clients in a wide range of industries, including the medical device and marine industries. Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or a related field is preferred. You will utilize your patent prosecution experience to build and manage U.S. and international patent portfolios, work closely with team attorneys to find solutions and opportunities for clients with diverse needs, draft and prosecute patent applications, conduct due diligence investigations, and perform freedom-to-operate and landscape analyses.
We Know YouYou have at least two years of experience practicing patent preparation and prosecution, an undergraduate degree in engineering, strong academic credentials, excellent writing and analytical skills, and registration to practice before the USPTO. Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, biomedical, or a related field is preferred.
