Who We Are:Fisher Associates, P.E., L.S., L.A., D.P.C, is a multidisciplinary design services firm headquartered in Rochester, NY, with eight locations nationwide. The firm provides civil/site engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, planning, environmental, surveying, GIS, construction inspection, precast engineering and construction engineering services to public and private sector clients across numerous markets. Essential Functions: + Responsible for the crew safety, ensuring all crew members read, understand, and sign the project Job Safety Analysis (JSA). + Responsible for conducting and documenting daily Tailgate Safety Meetings. + Ensures timesheets of all crew members are completed at the end of each day. + Follow and comply with client and firm field procedures, to ensure that the field data is in the proper format, considering each job will have its own standards. + Communicate daily with Project Managers, Project Surveyors, or other office personnel, providing updates on progress, schedule estimates, and any issues encountered. + Attempt to notify property owners before entering private property to conduct survey activity. + Teach Instrument Person how to perform their job to the standard in which you are performing the survey. + Responsible for the safety of the crew, vehicles, and equipment, and the public's interest. + Keeps clear and accurate field notes by recording all significant data: the party roster, date, page number, job number, title including job name and description of work, field book file name, data collector number, and the name, arrival and departure time of all sub-consulting support personnel. + Maintain neat and legible notes in the field book while distributing copies to office personnel. + Keep project sketches of survey control including overall baseline sketch, tie sketches for each point, dip sketches including size and type of pipes, direction of flow, and structure connections. + Perform sufficient control checks in the field while setting new control and verifying existing control. + Check traverse angle closures and level run closures in the field before coming into the office. + Ensure that data collectors are downloaded daily using proper naming conventions. Process data and views in CAD, correct code errors before passing data on to office staff. + Resolve project-related problems. + Review mapping prior to delivery. + Effectively coordinate with other service lines as necessary to fulfill project needs. + Perform preventative maintenance on company-issued vehicles (check fluid levels, tire pressure, etc.) on a constant basis, and maintain the interior of the vehicle in a neat and orderly fashion. + Safety and Compliance Oversight: Ensure the safety of all crew members, the public, vehicles, and equipment. Conduct and document daily Tailgate Safety Meetings, and confirm all crew members review and sign project Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). + Field Operations and Data Collection: Adhere to client and company field procedures, ensuring data collection meets project-specific standards. Perform and verify control checks, including traverse angle closures and level run closures. Maintain clear, legible, and organized field notes and sketches (e.g., control points, tie-ins, dips, and structures), distributing copies to the office as needed. + Crew Management and Training: Supervise field crew and ensure timesheets are completed daily. Train Instrument Persons to perform duties to professional standards and maintain accountability throughout the team. + Stakeholder Communication: Provide daily updates to Project Managers, Project Surveyors, and office staff regarding progress, scheduling, and field issues. Attempt to notify property owners before accessing private property. + Data Management and Processing: Download and organize data from collectors daily using standard naming conventions. Conduct initial data processing and CAD viewing, correcting any coding errors before office handoff. Review mapping for quality prior to delivery. + Project Coordination and Problem Solving: Collaborate effectively with other service lines to meet project requirements. Proactively identify and resolve field-related challenges. + Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular preventative maintenance on company vehicles (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure), and maintain a clean and organized interior. + Miscellaneous Duties: Complete additional tasks as assigned to support project and organizational goals. Supervisory/leadership Duties + Authority to direct the survey party. + Effectively manage teams across multiple locations. + Oversee and coordinate multiple projects, ensuring work is prioritized and deadlines are met. + Set clear expectations and provide ongoing respectful performance feedback through structured and real-time communication. + Support employee growth by facilitating career development, skill-building, and training opportunities. + Act as a coach by guiding and inspiring team members to enhance productivity and overcome challenges independently. + Serve as a mentor by sharing knowledge, offering direction, and fostering career progression. + Apply critical thinking to solve complex business challenges, aligning solutions with corporate objectives and strategic goals. Salary Range:$32.00-$37.00/hour Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications/education, and other factors. Salary range excludes monetary value of benefits. #LI-CA1 Requirements Education & Experience + High School Diploma or GED required + Associate’s Degree in Science of Surveying or related degree preferred (or equivalent experience) + Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Party Chief + Documented experience with conventional, GPS, and data collection survey equipment for construction layout, boundary, as built, and control survey duties required.
