Parts Counterperson
Overall Summary

Provide customers (both internal and external) requested parts and accessories in a timely manner. In addition to specifying the correctly needed items, the Parts Counterperson is responsible to solicit additional sales; charges out merchandise using the Dealer Management System, follow-up on special orders, tag, store and process warranty parts, assist in conducting inventory cycle counts and keep inventory area, parts counter and retail area/displays clean and orderly.

Essential Job Duties:
Assist parts manager in maintaining a clean and efficient parts inventory
Notify parts manager or general manager of any unsafe or illegal activity
Stock in all incoming parts and reconcile parts invoice and actual parts received
Read and become familiar with all technical performance data concerned with product
Maintain a list of the problems encountered daily which seem to:
o Reduce operating efficiency
o Need analysis and study
o Indicate deficiency or inadequacy in policy or standard operating procedures
Comply with company standards for personal appearance and department
Issue parts to mechanics in the manner that minimizes the “waiting for parts” time, and place parts on the repair order
Cost parts on all repair work and/or parts on repair order where the cost amount is desired
Write purchase orders for parts and sublet work needed from other firms
Take telephone orders for parts and accessories
Keep a record of all special parts orders and when the part arrives, notify the person who authorized the order or the customer
Make sure all defective parts on factory claim repair work, that have to be returned to the factory, are turned in by the mechanics and have been properly tagged.
Help “scrap” parts held for factory warranty claims
Clean work area when possible and notify manager if assistance is needed for clean-up
