Part-Time Nurse Practitioner
Job Summary We are looking for a part-time Nurse Practitioner to support our client, Timken Company, at their North Carolina plant. The part-time Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for managing employee health assessments, addressing work-related injuries, and promoting overall well-being within the plant. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. The Nurse Practitioner will work approximately 4 hours per week; flexibility to work occasional, additional hours as needed for employee welness programs or emergencies. Responsibilities Provide medical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for employees with work-related injuries or illnesses. Prescribe medications as necessary for acute and chronic conditions, adhering to state and federal guidelines. Administer acute care for minor injuries and illnesses, including first aid, wound care, and minor medical procedures. Conduct physical exams for new hires and annual health evaluations for current employees, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards. Administer preventive healthcare services, including vaccinations, health screenings, and wellness education. Collaborate with the Human Resources and Safety teams to assess workplace health risks and implement preventive measures. Manage workers' compensation cases, including documenting injuries, following up on medical treatments, and liaising with external healthcare providers. Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in accordance with HIPAA and company policies. Offer advice and counseling on various health-related issues, such as stress management, nutrition, and injury prevention. Provide emergency care as needed, ensuring immediate medical intervention in case of accidents or health incidents. Support the plant’s safety programs by participating in safety training and promoting awareness of health and safety best practices. Stay current with healthcare guidelines, industry standards, and state-specific health regulations, including OSHA requirements. Qualifications Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) with a valid Nurse Practitioner license in North Carolina. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an occupational health, manufacturing, or industrial setting. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation procedures, and health and safety compliance in an industrial environment. Skills and Competencies Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Strong critical thinking skills; problem solving, and decision making. Must have the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports. Ability to manage multiple priorities, with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to create and edit written materials. Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors and clients. Strong time management, organizational, and follow-through skills. Ability to meet and exceed daily and weekly individual performance goals. Ability to work independently as well as assisting other team members when needed. Requires regular and predictable attendance and punctuality. Computer Skills Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment, Adobe Professional, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and learn other software as needed. Physical Demands Requires sitting for long periods of time, working at a desk. Some bending and stretching could be required. Working under stress and use of computer/phone required. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard. Occasionally may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Work Environment May involve exposure to industrial manufacturing environments, including noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
