Part-Time Faculty - Teacher Education, Fall 2025
The University of Southern Maine’s Teacher Education Program is seeking part-time faculty to teach Secondary Science Methods (EDU 401/501) for our Fall 2025 semester, beginning September 1, 2025. Secondary Science Methods (EDU 401) - This course has an interactive laboratory/discussion field-based approach, modeling and focusing on the teaching and learning aspects of science in high school and middle school. The emphasis is on content, process, and methodology and will help interns develop knowledge of how to teach (pedagogy) and, more specifically, knowledge of how to teach science (pedagogical content knowledge). Students will learn strategies for planning and providing core academic and behavioral experiences to all learners. We are seeking a student-focused instructor who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include developing the course, teaching, assessing student performance, and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the course learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus available for reference. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience.
