Qualified candidates who are not selected for employment for fall semester 2024 will have their applications remain active for one (1) year should a future opportunity arise during the 2025–2026 instructional year, September 1, 2025–August 31, 2026.
The Department of Professional and Public Writing in the Harrington School of Communication and Media and College of Arts and Sciences seeks part-time faculty to teach on a per-course basis. Possible areas of instruction include first-year writing, professional writing, technical writing, and/or digital writing and rhetoric. All courses meet in-person and are at the undergraduate level.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A selected candidate will teach one (1) or two (2) courses in the Department of Professional and Public Writing. Part-time faculty are not required to engage in research or service activities but must hold regular office hours and be available to assist students enrolled in their courses. They are expected to stay current in their fields of instruction and with pedagogical methods and instructional technologies. Most courses are three (3) credits. In-person courses meet for approximately three (3) hours per week over the course of an approximately fourteen (14) week semester. Classes meet during the day at the Kingston campus.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
1. Master’s or doctoral degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Technical and Professional Writing, English, or a related field.
2. Experience teaching at the college level.
3. Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: technical writing, professional writing, and/or first-year writing or closely related fields.

4. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
