Position Purpose: Testing specialists provide front-desk and front-line support to students and faculty who are using the testing labs. This may include greeting students, tracking lab usage, handling confidential test materials, communicating with faculty and supervisor(s) in writing, and monitoring test taking in the lab. Essential Functions: Interact consistently in a respectful, courteous, and tactful manner with students, faculty, staff and the public; de-escalate situations as needed Administer and proctor students’ online and written exams and quizzes for LaneOnline and lecture courses Ability to administer and proctor multiple tests in multiple rooms with accuracy and without compromising security or the integrity of the exams Verify student ID and use the online check-in system Calm and reassure anxious or frustrated students Enforce guidelines and follow all departmental procedures Problem-solve difficult interactions with students, staff, faculty and the public, and use professional judgment about when to involve supervisor(s) and coordinator(s) Troubleshoot issues with computer exams Effectively communicate with faculty and technology departments regarding testing irregularities and document student concerns with exams Complete and track incident reports and follow through with supervisor(s) Participate in planning meetings and job-specific professional development Organize and maintain all testing materials; Track written exams and testing materials and problem-solve issues involving missing exams or materials with faculty and students. Assist in leading team meetings and provide feedback to the testing center director about issues needing to be addressed Work under pressure, multi-task, and manage time effectively Provide office support by answering phones, taking messages, filing, copying, and providing general information to students, faculty, staff and the public Clean and organize testing center supplies and computers; inventory supplies needed. Participate in creating and maintaining a positive team environment Navigate digital class resources in Moodle and other online learning environments Assist in connecting students to additional services available at Lane Completes special projects and activities as assigned Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students Other duties as assigned
