Who we’re looking for 

Toyota’s Legal Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Paralegal. 

  

The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in responding to compliance issues and assess regulatory developments in Privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI. 

Reporting to the Privacy Managing Counsel, the person in this role will support the Legal department's objective to develop, implement, and oversee the company’s privacy, cyber, and AI initiatives. 

What you’ll be doing  

Monitor and assess legislative and regulatory developments that can impact the corporate compliance and privacy program. 

Assist in responding to compliance issues, participate in investigations, and ensure documentation is complete. 

Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and recommend strategies to mitigate risks.

Track privacy/AI supplier contract reviews and maintain a running list of status and metrics.

Evaluate corporate privacy risks, including conducting assessments, and investigations, and recommend remediations.

Assist in planning, developing, implementing, reviewing, and updating compliance policies and procedures.

Self-monitor due dates to meet internal and external regulatory deadlines.

What you bring

High School Diploma and Associate Two-Year College Degree required.   

Paralegal license required.

Privacy certification (i.e. IAPP) is required or required to obtain within the first 18 months of employment.

2-5 years experience as a paralegal is required preferably in supporting in-house counsel or in supporting privacy issues. 

Proficient in MS Office products

Conducting legal research

Excellent communicator in both verbal and written formats 

Added bonus if you have  

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent preferred 

5-10 years of relevant work experience preferred  

LexisNexis research and/or ChatGPT prompt engineer 

Certification in Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity
