This position will work closely with HHS's internal counsel as they support HHS's staff in their administration of the Agency's many crucial programs. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and will enjoy working as part of a dynamic team. Responsibilities: This position will play an integral role on our team and will be responsible for the following duties: -Assisting with drafting legal notices, affidavits, letters, memorandums, and other agency documents for use in agency litigation, administrative actions, reports, or briefings. -Preparing drafts of pleadings, motions, and discovery related to agency cases, administrative actions, tort claims, and employee grievances. -Conducting basic legal research and compiling that research for use by the legal team and HHS leadership. -Assisting with legal research or review during legislative session. -Assisting with tracking case documentation, meeting minutes, and other forms of communication. -Assisting with compilation and review of documentation for response to subpoenas, open records requests, and other inquiries. Assisting with the review and redaction of documents in accordance with state and federal law, compilation of privilege logs, and transfer of documents to the requesting entity. -Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Graduation from an accredited paralegal program OR Experience equal to 2 years of full-time work as a paralegal or similar support capacity under the supervision of a practicing attorney.
