The Head of Legal: Marketing is responsible for managing the legal risks and opportunities associated with Anglo American’s global commodity sales, marketing and trading operations (excluding DeBeers).

Job Description

What you’ll do

The Paralegal supports Group Legal in delivering legal services to the Marketing businesses, working both on legal and regulatory matters as well as managing the team’s administration requirements.

KEY TASKS

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting in preparation of legal contracts, minutes, filings and documents as instructed by Legal colleagues.Acting as the main point of contact for the legal data repository, including managing the precedent bank.Conducting legal research and summarising findings to support policy-drafting and regulatory queries.Assisting with matter management, file maintenance and tracking billings.Coordinating the team’s Learning & Development agenda and sharing materials to strengthen the team’s knowledge and familiarity in regulations and legislations.Preparing litigation and monthly legal reports for senior management.Assisting with governance duties such as coordination on internal audits and providing Legal’s input.Providing administrative support for the legal team globally, including calendars, budget and projects.Other duties as required by the Head of Legal.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Diploma in Law or equivalent qualification (a degree is preferred but not mandatory)

Knowledge required:

Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporation.Self-starter with ability to work independently.Strong organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.Ability to understand and work with complex legal structures across the organization, both domestically and internationally.Strong working knowledge of MS Office and other software applications including SharePoint.
