Paralegal

The Paralegal is responsible for assisting the general counsel by conducting legal research, drafting legal documents related to retail operations, managing client files, preparing for litigation, and ensuring compliance with relevant retail laws.

Essential Job Functions The incumbent should be able to perform a majority of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Contract Administration: Assist in the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts with vendors, clients, and other external parties, ensuring compliance with legal standards. Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive research on applicable laws, regulations, and legal precedents to support legal decisions and strategies. Document Drafting and Preparation: Prepare various legal documents, including correspondence, memoranda, and internal reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal requirements. Compliance Oversight: Monitor and ensure adherence to relevant legal and regulatory standards, assisting in maintaining the organization’s compliance program. Corporate Record Management: Maintain accurate and organized corporate records, including filings, documentation, and compliance-related materials. Litigation Support: Assist in the discovery process, document production, and management of case files to support legal teams in ongoing litigation matters. Ethics and Compliance Program Support: Administer training programs focused on ethics and regulatory compliance for staff, ensuring effective delivery and ongoing support. Internal Communication and Legal Support: Act as a liaison between legal and other internal departments, addressing legal concerns and providing advice to ensure smooth operations across the organization.

Knowledge of all Intellectual Property helpful Knowledge of landlord/tenant and sub-leasing helpful Knowledge of Corporate Governance helpful Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Education/Experience:

Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or paralegal certificate 4-6 years of experience working in a law firm or other office setting Strong understanding of retail industry practices and common legal issues Knowledge of relevant state and federal consumer protection laws Excellent research and analytical skills to interpret legal documents and case law Proficient in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including contracts and lease agreements. Effective communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, attorneys and other team members. Detail orientated with strong organization skills is a must.
