Painter Lead
Overview ***This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP*** Under supervision of the Allied Trades Supervisor, the Painter Lead will be responsible for performing painting tasks and supervises a small group of employees engaged in painting activities. The Painter Lead is also responsible for assuring that adequate supplies and materials are readily available. Work involves knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications. Preparing surfaces to be painted by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until smooth. Applying primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them. Applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes, rollers, or sprayers. Work requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Paints and reconditions surfaces to be painted Preparing surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices Applying paint with spray gun or brush Mix colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) Must be a U.S. Citizen A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must provide a copy of the diploma. Experience: Work requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a painter. Skills Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications Preparing surface for painting by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until smooth. Applying paint with spray gun or brush Mixing colors, oils, white lead and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency. Working Conditions The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. Physical Requirements Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
