Painter Inspector Leader

About the Position: This position is within the Directorate of Product Assurance, Quality Control Division at Letterkenny Army Depot located in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities Lead work crews to ensure adherence to established work sequences, procedures, methods and deadlines. Inspect painted surfaces to verify compliance with prescribed standards, specifications, and established criteria, using appropriate testing methods. Interpret technical documentation to ensure compliance with applicable requirements of the Scope of Work (SOW), MIL Standards, Technical Manuals and Technical Bulletins. Accurately assess coating quality and adherence to specifications by employing sophisticated inspection equipment and testing apparatus. Evaluate coating materials to determine their suitability for application based on prescribed standards and performance requirements. Conduct inspections requiring physical dexterity and attention to detail while adhering to established safety and housekeeping rules/regulations. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painter Inspector Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Painter Inspector Leader duties such as directing work crews to follow basic work procedures and meet project deadlines; Inspecting painted surfaces to verify compliance with basic specifications using standard testing methods; Interpreting fundamental technical documentation to understand basic project requirements and standards; Accurately assessing coating quality and adherence to specifications by employing standard inspection equipment and testing apparatus; Evaluating coating materials to determine basic suitability for intended application based on general guidelines; and conducting basic inspections of painting, cleaning and finishing of surfaces while adhering to established safety and housekeeping rules. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Practices in Construction, Structure Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Physical Effort: Required to frequently lift, carry, and set up equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds. Occasionally may handle materials/equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Required to perform standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring/uncomfortable positions. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside or outside of building where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. May be required to wear protective equipment and clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) that are uncomfortable. Frequently exposed to cuts and bruises. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous materials/waste. Also exposed to vapor and paint fumes. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
