Exercises no supervision. Work Location 5800 Historic Old Highway 90 Work Hours 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.; Monday - Friday. Shifts are subject to change to accommodate seasonal adjustments, evening coverage, weekends, and holiday shiftwork based on department needs. Essential Job Functions + Cleans surfaces to be painted by using sandpaper, burners, scrapers, brushes, sanding machines, and dusters. + Assists in painting interior and exterior walls and other equipment by operating all equipment used in the paint trade. + Assists in installing floor and wall coverings made of various materials which may weigh up to 50 pounds. + Assists in installing ceiling tiles. + Assists in finishing furniture. + Assists in erecting and dismantling scaffolds, which may entail movements of stooping, climbing, standing, reaching, and crouching. + Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Job Requirements + Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. + Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment. Preferred Qualifications + Ability to read and write English. + Basic computer skills. + Familiar with SAP or similar work order system. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, materials, and terminology used in the paint trade. + Knowledge of safety procedures as they relate to the use of paints, solvents, glues, tools and equipment. + Skill in the application of paints and other finishes by brush or spray gun. + Skill in the operation of all tools and equipment used in the paint trade. + Ability to learn the more complex aspects of the paint trade. + Ability to understand and follow instructions. + Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public. + Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations. + Working conditions are both indoor and outdoor with exposure to temperature extremes, unfavorable fumes and odors, and hazardous chemicals.
