The Packhouse Operations Manager will be responsible for the hands-on management of all phases of operations, including primary processing, packing, engineering, maintenance, product warehousing and logistics.

The requirement is for a hands-on operations manager who will be actively involved, on a daily basis, in the packhouse. During the citrus season (March to September) extended working hours is the norm. Time off, in lieu of this, is given outside of the citrus season. Candidates need to demonstrate the following character traits : Driven Dynamic Take accountability Be innovative High work ethic Lead from the front (hands-on) Problem solver Team player Mechanically / technically minded
Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification will be beneficial - Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering degree, or degree in Operations / Logistics Management. Relevant experience is essential, including experience in managing teams. Fully computer literate – MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Good knowledge of BRC, HACCP, and Global GAP accreditation requirements. Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills. Good administrative skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Sound interpersonal skills. Exceptional resilience to pressure.
Responsibilities and expectations, but not limited to:
Providing leadership and mentoring to all key resources at the facility. Directs, manages, and optimizes the overall operations of the facility. In conjunction with management, sets policies and makes decisions guiding productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of plant operations. Establish systems to collect metrics, analyse productivity and set performance targets that will meet revenue and cost goals. Leads the development and deployment of packing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Leads any labour relations activities involving the plant.
