Your role and responsibilities

The main objective of the role is to lead Process Automation’s journey towards a fully sustainable business with a particular emphasis on carbon neutrality, contribution to climate change mitigation, and other environmental targets while ensuring other areas of sustainability are properly progressed by the organizational unit best placed for it.Here are the main responsibility areas for the job:• PA Sustainability Strategy: The primary responsibility involves leading the integration of the group-wide sustainability strategy into the Process Automation business area. This includes orchestrating strategic initiatives related to sustainability, energy transition, and decarbonization across the PA divisions. • Thought Leadership and Expertise: Provides sustainability expertise by assisting the organization in understanding obligations, liabilities, and stakeholder expectations. Maintains the relevant sustainability-related competencies through continuous professional development opportunities. Contributes to thought leadership and future-proofing of the business in terms of sustainability. • Sustainability Reporting: Ensures that the objectives, targets, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are clear and allocated to the relevant business levels. In collaboration with respective functions, reports sustainability performance and progress with respect to the implementation of the group-level sustainability objectives and KPIs. • Collaboration and Implementation: Drives cross-divisional and BA collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of the sustainability strategy. This includes identifying potential business opportunities and partnerships, fomenting knowledge and best-practices sharing, and ensuring priorities and initiatives are implemented. Collaborates with business and other functions to drive behavioral change. • Sustainability Function: Assists the organization in establishing clear roles and responsibilities for the successful integration of sustainability strategy into the business strategy, with a focus on competence and capacity. Ensures that their own area of responsibility is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled, and directed. • Stakeholder Engagement: Engages with external stakeholders (e.g., customers, suppliers) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness of, gain commitment to, and obtain objective feedback on ABB’s sustainability efforts and performance.

Qualifications for the role

10+ years of work experience with a business, technology or sustainability background (university degree), e.g., as typically found it the level of an experienced manager from a top-tier consultancy or corporate strategy/sustainability role. A strong passion for sustainability and the ability to think strategically about environmental challenges are crucial. Direct experience in PA’s markets is a plus Solid climate and emission literacy; ability to assume leading expert role on those topics in ABB and PA context in very short period of time. Ability to prioritize and make tradeoffs in a strategic, quantitative environment with only moderate support from supervisor   Ability to transfer frameworks and methodologies into effective targets and content-driven governance processes Demonstrated tangible results in program/project management and other settings where influential leadership across strict organizational boundaries is required Flexible mindset, curiosity to push boundaries, learn and adapt Initiating, collaborative, problem-solving personality Excellent written (text and visuals) and verbal communication skills in English Clarification: this is a content-centered role – not a role for a process/facilitation profile
