What You'll Do

The Global Practices Management Support (GPMS) Team drives activities on behalf of the Practice Area Leaders (PALs) and PA Global Practice Management Directors (GPMD) vis a vis the EC and OC, the global functions, and other leadership groups of the firm. Within the GPMS Team, the central Industry & Client Group (ICG) Operations Team drives cross-Practice initiatives and special projects for the ICG Chair, the ICG Leaders, as well as the Industry PAL and GPMD groups more broadly.  

We are seeking a candidate who is keen to help advance the strategic Industry Practice agenda on a global level and who knows how to align diverse stakeholder interests. Working closely with the ICG Chair and the Industry Practices Senior Director, you will manage longer term strategic projects to drive client impact, advance cross-Practice priorities, and enhance Practice area affiliation and knowledge sharing. You also will work closely with other functional and geographic leaders to drive change throughout the firm. Examples of recent projects include defining and rolling out new cross-PA go-to-market operating model; developing a new view on our industry and sector structure to enable future growth; and designing/developing a market sensing capability for internal strategic planning and client use.

Key Activities and Responsibilities include:

With central IPA team, plan, prioritize and drive PAL/ GPMD / ICG Team initiatives, ensure proper resource planning, and regularly review project portfolio  Drive specific Industry Practice projects, providing strong conceptual leadership on both design and implementation of solutions. Manage project teams, as appropriate, including but not limited to PA analysts, consulting team members, outside contractors, Practice Area project team members  Monitor progress of ongoing PA and GPMS Team projects and initiatives, review output and provide summarized view of progress, milestones and issues.  Manage inter-dependencies between project stakeholders and PA teams; facilitate information flow via all stakeholders Provide agenda and content management support for key PA leadership meetings, including PAL, GPMD meetings Prepare updates for other key leadership meetings, e.g., Executive Committee/Operating Committee (EC/OC), Global Practice Management Directors (GPMDs) as needed Act in direct support of, and as a sparring partner for, IPA GPMDs

Self-starter/ motivator  - Good at owning, structuring, and driving multiple parallel project assignments that routinely require independent judgement, trade-offs or prioritization Exceptional project management skills - exhibit strong follow-through and accountability, high attention to detail  Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity with poise and diplomacy Aligning diverse (and sometimes conflicting) stakeholder interests  Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work well with senior BCG leaders and peers  Team player who is skilled in navigating a matrixed organization Reliable and able to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment  Working effectively in a global, virtual environment with people at all organizational levels 

What You'll Bring

BA/BS degree (or equivalent) required with a preference for Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or PhD) 5+ years of project management experience preferably in consulting environment BCG consulting staff experience preferred  Significant experience working with senior teams preferably in a dynamic project-based work environment Fluency in English – capable of writing crisp, well-structured emails, memos and presentations Project and team management experience preferred A basic understanding of the agenda of the Practices and a sense for the development of the Practices’ business is a plus Global mobility, willingness to travel occasionally (post-COVID)
