PA/NP - Regional Newborn Nursery, Fremont, MI

The Regional Newborn Nursery APP in Fremont at Gerber Hospital is responsible for the direct care and management of infants in the Level one nursery. As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role within the Newborn Nursey by providing high-quality, effective care to patients and their families.

The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are preferred.

**Experience with Newborn and/or Labor & Delivery preferred**

Responsibilities:

Education: Provide education, instruction, guidance, and advise patients regarding medications and treatment. Communicate with and counsel family members, and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.Clinical: Complete daily rounding, perform the daily physical examination of newborns completing H&Ps, progress notes, and discharges. Attend high risk deliveries and provide care recommended by NRP guidelines, provide intubation in highly complex situations, preform procedures (circumcision, frenotomy)Documentation: Obtain complete, detailed, and accurate patient histories, review patient records, perform physical exams, record all pertinent data to develop comprehensive medical status, diagnosis, and clinical treatment plan for all assigned patients.Teamwork. Assist the on call attending physician with the care of the infants on the newborn nursery unit at Gerber Hospital.Collaboration: Ability to work with OB and nursing staff at Gerber, as well as within other Regional Nurseries

Qualifications: 

Nurse Practitioner: 

Required Master's Degree Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master’s, post-master’s or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission 

3 years of relevant experience current, relevant clinical experience 

Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role as a Nurse Practitioner 

LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan  

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS)  

CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)  

 

Physician Assistant: 

Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program 

LIC-Physician Assistant - State of Michigan 

CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants  

CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS)  

CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Visiting specialists include cardiology, ENT, Nephrology, and Sleep Medicine.
