Overnight Housekeeping Supervisor

Position: Overnight Housekeeping Supervisor (Full-Time) 

Facility:  Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager of Housekeeping and Groundskeeping, the Overnight Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for keeping the facility and surrounding areas clean and immaculate by working alongside and delegating tasks to the staff within the department. This person must have good communication skills as well as the ability to lift, pull and push a moderate weight.

Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year!

Critical Accountabilities:

Emptying trashcans and sanitary receptacles as well as picking up trash inside and out. Vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors using various types of equipment (ride-on sweepers, bac-vacs, canister vacuums). Stripping and waxing hard floors. Shampooing / extracting the carpet. Sanitizing washrooms and keeping consumables in these areas stocked. Following all safety procedures and chemical handling guidelines (MSDS), including wearing proper equipment (PPM) and enforce staff to do the same. Dusting silk plants, signs, walls, lights, etc. Cleaning up spills. Cleaning windows and mirrors. Most importantly, take time and care to keep the exterior acrylic of the exhibits free of finger prints, streaks and smudges while maintaining its overall integrity. Adjusts assignments or cleaning schedule of team members as absences or emergencies occur.Observes, inspect and monitors quality and quantity of work while in progress or upon completion.Advises of additional or corrective cleaning applications needed.Assists in the training of employees.Cleaning needs and unresolved problems are to be addressed with Manager or Director.Established standards are maintained on a daily basis.Informing Housekeeping Manager immediately of anything broken or needing attention. Overseeing the daily operations of HousekeepingCoaching and mentoring the housekeeping team Maintains inventory of amenities, chemicals and other supplies to ensure items are in stock and reorders in timely manner

 Special Skills and Requirements:

Experience in the housekeeping industry a definite asset.Observes safety and security procedures and use of equipment and cleaning materials properly, Excellent communication skills.Ability to delegate tasks and assignments.Ability to lift up to 25 kilogramsThe role will require standing for longer periods of time. Work may involve stepladders, reaching overhead, bending, and stooping, climbing and crawling.  Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.  Team player with a passion for their work!  Must be energetic, courteous and professional.  Having a positive attitude to fellow staff and all guests in the building.  Proven guest service ability with an attention to detail and ability to multi-task.  Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. Ability to motivate staff in a high energy environment.
