Statement of Job Purpose:
The 1199 Training and Upgrading Fund ("Fund") is a labor/management training partnership which administers education and training benefits for eligible nursing home, homecare, and hospital members of District 1199 New England. This position will work with nursing home members.
The Outreach Staff is responsible for the following major areas of work:
Outreach to members in person, using email and text messages, and by telephone, at assigned nursing homes (approximately 20-25) regarding Fund benefits and programs. Documenting all contacts with members in the Fund's database Enrolling members in in-person and virtual training programs and entering these enrollments into the Fund's database Working closely with Labor-Management Training staff and consultants to ensure success of Labor-Management training projects. Duties may include: Helping with scheduling Working with the Union and Management to recruit members to attend programs at their nursing homes Ensuring that all "day of evaluations" are collected Others TBD Working closely with the Fund College and Career Counselor including: Recruiting and supporting members interested in the Fund's Adult Education classes such as LPN/College Prep. Referring members to local Adult Education Centers as appropriate, if the Fund does not offer classes that they are interested in attending. Setting up regional College Fairs for members at which local educational institutions would attend and members will have an opportunity for in-person meetings with the Fund College and Career CounselorThe Outreach Staff also performs other duties as agreed upon with the Executive Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Outreach
Visit assigned nursing homes throughout the year to distribute information about Fund programs and benefits, recruit for classes and programs, and answer questions. Current benefits and programs include: Tuition Reimbursement Adult Education classes Mental Health First Aid Training Spring and Fall educational conferences Others TBD2. Work with Fund and Union staff to identify, train and support "Training Fund Champions" (TFC)in assigned nursing homes. The TFCs will be members who are enthusiastic about the Training Fund and will take responsibility to help publicize the Fund programs and benefits to their coworkers
Other Duties
Play the lead role in organizing Spring and Fall Training Fund Conferences, Training Fund graduations,and other events TBDKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school diploma, Associate's Degree in Human Services, Healthcare related field, or related area preferred. Background in community organizing or union organizing a plus Background as a healthcare worker, and/or a member of District 1199 a plus Deep commitment to racial, economic, and worker justice Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and teamwork skills Above average technology skills (Microsoft Word and Excel; email; internet; Salesforce or other similar database) Demonstrated ability to work independently, attention to detail Demonstrated ability to document work as agreed upon with Executive Director Experience in working with diverse populationsThe 1199 Training and Upgrading Fund is an equal opportunity employer.
