Outpatient Staff Pharmacist/PT

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Essential Job Responsibilities/Expectations

4.    Serves as a drug information resource for members of the health care team. 
5.    Contacts the provider in a timely manner when there is a concern about a prescription related to a drug interaction, allergy, drug disease state interaction, and other circumstances as indicated.
6.    Adheres to all state and federal laws pertaining to the practice of outpatient pharmacy.
7.    Knows and follows regulatory standards and policies related to all governing bodies . 
8.    Provides supervision and direction to pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate pharmacy services.
9.    Assists in the training and education of pharmacy students, pharmacy technician students, and pharmacy technicians, and pharmacists. 
10.    Handles and resolves customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.  
11.    Administers vaccinations.
12.    Manages the inventory and monetary transactions for optimizing cost efficiency of the outpatient pharmacy.
13.    Counsels patients on their drug therapy to enhance compliance and identify side effects.
14.    Answers questions and provides OTC recommendations based on patient needs and evaluation of medication history and identified disease states.
15.    Establish collaborative professional relationships with other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients.
16.    Responsible for investigating and resolving third-party payment issues.
17.    Remains current with continuing education requirements required to maintain certifications and licenses. Completes 
          All additional hospital- or health system- required trainings as assigned.


Qualifications/Training:
•    Ability to work independently

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:
•    Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
•    Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina.
•    Completion of APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program
•    Maintain current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS Provider
