Purpose of the Role To drive, operate, repair and maintain "on track" machines in a safe manner, in accordance with the Competency Based Standards for Operator Driver Fitter Maintainers, and in accordance with the Colas Railway Safety Case Personal Specification We value the behaviours, attitudes and skills which will help you to develop and excel in this exciting, challenging role. We are looking for candidates who: + Are dynamic, driven, determined and professional and can perform duties safely on their own, and as part of a team using processes and procedures and without direct supervision. + Have a positive, attitude and thrive in a busy and pressurised environment. + Have excellent written and verbal communication and can clearly report and liaise with other areas of the business in both safety critical and non-critical situations. + Can analyse problems thoroughly and make good timely decisions. + Are motivated to learn and develop and maximise personal contribution to the business. + Flexible, Honest & Punctual – Able to work weekends and bank holidays as part of a 24/7 shift-based roster (Essential) + Confident Computer Skills; Microsoft Windows packages incl. Word, Excel, Outlook + Understand the UK Rail Operation/Standards and have good geographical knowledge of the Central Region. + Have a Full UK Driving Licence (Essential) + Have previous experience within the Rail Industry as an engineer, driver or on track machine operator (Desirable) + Have transferable skills or a background in Transport or Mechanical Engineering + Have past or present Railway Route Knowledge of Central Region (Not essential) *Princes Risborough (Highly Desirable) Key Responsibilities + Attending all required training for the roles of Driver/Operator, or Operator/Fitter or combination of all to become a ‘multi skilled’ Driver/Operator/Fitter and continue to attend all training required throughout your employment. equired for all safety critical roles. Psychometric pass required for Driver/Operator. + Reporting, recording any real time issues including incidents, accidents and environmental occurrences in a professional and efficient manner informing the appropriate parties in the correct timescales in accordance with Company procedures. + Communicating and escalating machine service faults & failures as necessary to our maintenance department including all issues affecting operational shift performance. + Ensuring all activities are undertaken in accordance with policies, procedures, and safety rules. + Maintaining personal route knowledge (Driver/Operator) + Achieving high standards through determination, commitment, and motivation.
