Job Title:                    DME Coordinator

Job Summary:           Assists providers and manages clinical functions in the department. Bracing and casting skills applied! Minimum 1 year of experience desired.

Essential Functions of the Position:

Casting Splinting (Ortho glass and plaster) Durable Medical Equipment Fitting & Distribution Administrative tasks relating to durable medical equipment, casting, and splinting Posting charges for all DME distributed within assigned location Precepting new hires and overseeing competency check offs for future DME Coordinators Manages inventory of durable medical equipment for the Orthopedic Clinic and completes ordering within assigned reordering parameters

Technical Capabilities:

Training & Development: Able to complete a performance qualification standard demonstrating proficiency and knowledge in the areas casting, splinting, and durable medical equipment within 90 days of hire date.

Orthopedics: Demonstrates mastery of Orthopedics in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.

Cast Application & Removal: Demonstrates mastery of cast application and removal in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.

Administration: Ability to familiarize with applications used in clinic, familiarize with the nuances of medical insurances utilized for the distribution of DME, and learn how to post charges for billing.

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintains an organized and clean work area Participates in maintenance of clinical supplies Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

 Physical and Mental Demands:

Physical requirements Able to stand or walk for long periods Use of proper body mechanics Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making High level verbal and written communication skills Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Occupational Exposure:

High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards

 Job Qualifications:

High school graduate or GED equivalent Strong customer service orientation Strong team player Basic computer proficiency Registered Orthopedic Technologist Preferred (Not required but willing to complete within 1 year of hire date.)
