ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (TITLE 32)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for an ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0868000 and is part of the FL SMO, National Guard. Responsibilities As an ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-6641-10, you will install, maintain, test and repair complete electrical and mechanical components on the Avenger Missile System. Determine and evaluate circuitry and interrelationships, interaction, and interconnections of the circuits, assemblies and complete systems. Use technical orders or specifications and work in compliance with oral instructions or work orders, independently plan the work and determine service and repair requirements. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions, improvising techniques and procedures as required due to lack of detailed and specific guidelines for isolating problems. Adapt test procedures to available test equipment. Judge impact of repairs on related equipment or systems. Test and align completed work. Determine work sequences and selects appropriate test instruments. Use a knowledge of electronic drawings and schematics for individual electronic units of moderate complexity, as well as mechanical makeup, operation and working relationships of a variety of systems, assemblies and parts. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Light to moderate physical effort is required. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries up to forty pounds. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, reaching and working in cramped and awkward positions. Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed in well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Work will also be performed at worksites other than place of employment. Work may occasionally be performed in high places such as Avenger launch station and in inclement weather. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns from electrical, RF energy and soldering irons. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLANG BUS Code NG0522: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which has provided the knowledge and application of mechanical and electrical principles and the skill to perform intricate repair and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic components and devices. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Must have 18 months experience or training in repairing, rebuilding, modifying, and testing a variety of major subassemblies. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining repair in major components consisting of numerous assemblies, interrelated electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblies, and components. Experience in the use of precision measurement equipment. Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials.
