Oracle DBA
Insight Global is looking for an Oracle DBA for one of our top banking clients. This is a 6 month contract position that is hybrid-based, twice a week onsite in Downtown Toronto.



Job Description/Accountabilities:

The main responsibilities of this position are to:

Consult, engineer, design, build, test, deploy quality database solutions that involve Oracle and are consistent with project objectives, client requirements, the bank's technology architecture standards and departmental best practices.

Administer Oracle database infrastructure full life cycle design to production support.

Troubleshooting and tuning of database and server performance issues.

Utilize Oracle subject matter expertise to design or re-use, configure, and implement database solutions/processes that maximize system availability, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity, security, recoverability, and supportability, all while minimizing costs.

Provide 3rd level on-call support on a rotational basis.

Provide afterhours support for project related work as well as scheduled changes.







In addition, the candidate is expected to have the following support skills:



Must Haves:



Minimum 7 years' experience in building and administering Oracle/Oracle RAC environments (12c, 19c) as well as:

Working knowledge of Cloud Computing and Azure/VMWare Technologies

Working knowledge of various Oracle technology points including building and administering Database backups using RMAN with TSM and/or Netbackup, ASM, DataGuard, and OEM Grid Control

Demonstrated experience utilizing Database centric solutions to deliver High Availability and Disaster Recovery. Awareness of non-Database centric capabilities (HACMP, VCS, TrueCopy, AAG)

Demonstrated experience with applying CPUs and Patch Sets.

Demonstrated experience with Unix shell/Windows scripting.

Minimum 7 yrs knowledge of Clustering fundamentals

Minimum 7 yrs knowledge of mission critical Oracle performance experience

Working knowledge with storage subsystems

Clear understanding of ITIL framework

7 yrs working knowledge and solid understanding of access fundamentals.

7 yrs Enterprise environment experience - working on large-scale projects.

7 yrs management of 100+ servers

Demonstrated experience in Database Automation for patching, build, etc. (Ansible)

Oracle AWR/ASH , storage level latency, and IO waits analysis

Demonstrated experience in oracle performance tuning.

Must be able to effectively represent DBA team on escalated incident management calls from operations.

Understanding of the bank's Methodology of designing, building, deploying and operating Unix/Linux, Windows server solutions that involve best practices and are consistent with project objectives and client requirements.

Provide management escalation for support calls including on-call afterhours support.

Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and tight deadlines.

Demonstrates experience involving strong communications skills (written and verbal), proven ability to effectively interact with individuals across business units and at various levels within the Bank (technical, business, including Management).

Highly organized and possessing strong analytical skills.

Open minded and highly adaptable with ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment.

Must be team-oriented with ability to work well with multiple teams in a cross-functional setup.

Self-motivated, with strong sense of ownership and urgency to deliver projects/tasks in a timely fashion.





Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

Undergraduate degree or technical certificate

Graduate degree, preferred 7+ years relevant experience





Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Financial Services IT experience

Broad experience with IP networking concepts - routers, firewalls, etc

MongoDB/Sybase/PostGreSQL database experience.

Teamwork - strong relationships with developers and business analysts, architecture & operations

Excellent communication and presentation abilities

Effective time management skills and ability to work under deadline
