Assisting with patient care and eye examinationsTaking patient histories and explaining the testing processesEducating patients on the care and maintenance of lensesFitting patients for glasses or contact lensesPreparing exam schedules and handling insurance claimsWorking under the supervision of the optometrist Maintaining patients records and equipmentRequirements:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.Must be a US citizen and authorized to work in the US.Certification of completion from a basic optometry course, equivalent para-optometric training, or a para-optometric certification; from the American Optometric Association or AOA.Possess a minimum of 6 months within the past 2 years as a practicing Optometry Technician. Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.
