Duties and Responsibilities The role involves assisting in the implementation and maintenance of telecommunications systems, microwave systems, and land mobile radio systems for the Division of Florida Highway Patrol. This position may require occasional travel and working non-standard hours (after 5 PM or on weekends). Key responsibilities include providing technical assistance for radio system and equipment issues, supporting technical problem-solving, overseeing vendor maintenance, testing radio code and programming software, assisting in training radio users, managing and securing FHP-specific encryption keys, advising on installation planning, assisting with communication design and operational support. Additional key role responsibilities will include, preparing procurement specifications, supporting the lead communications engineer, conducting maintenance and inspection reports, responding to mutual aid and disaster incidents, developing disaster response communication systems, researching new telecommunications technology, representing FHP on the Regional Domestic Security Task Force, serving as a liaison with local government entities, coordinating with other public safety agencies, and performing other related duties involving telecommunications, budget preparation, procurement activities, and lease agreements.
