Position Summary

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.

Responsibilities

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

 

Ophthalmic skills include:

Obtaining and documenting patient historyDetermining visual acuityPerforming automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposesRetinoscopy and refinement for prescribing purposesAdvanced lensometryLogarithmic pupillary assessmentStatic & kinetic visual field testingPAM, BAT, and advanced ocular motility assessmentManual keratometryOsmolarity testingAdministering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physicianPerforming office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient servicesMeasurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)Pre-operative preparation of patientMaintenance and repair of equipment and instrumentsPerform ocular imaging including OCT, Topography, fundus photographyPreparation of surgical instruments and equipmentAseptic techniqueOperating room assistance for minor and refractive surgeriesPreparation and labeling of microscope slide and culture media obtained by physicianPerforming amblyopia treatment including patching, drops, and prismIntraocular lens power calculationsPost-operative educationEscalation and triage of urgent patient needs/carePatient education, advanced refracting skills including over-refraction of contact lenses, contact lens fit/adjustment, advanced slit lamp techniqueA-scan diagnostic measurementsBiometry measurements Qualifications 7 + years of ophthalmic technician experience preferred COT Required/COMT Preferred Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required Must be flexible with traveling to various locations Ability to pay attention to detail • Ability to maintain confidentiality The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable The ability to recognize inconsistencies

 

Education/Certifications: Graduation from an accredited high school
