The Eye Center of St. Augustine is proud to be the oldest and largest state of the art eye care center in the area offering the convenience of an eye center, a surgery center, and an optical shop all under one roof. With satellite locations in World Golf Village, Palm Coast, and Palatka, our board-certified doctors provide premier best in class care to patients across Northeast Florida. Our ophthalmic surgeons, perform cataract, laser, and ophthalmic plastic surgery on site in our state-of-the-art Eye Surgery Center. We are also able to provide eye examinations for adults as well as children over the age of seven while offering a full-service optical shop at each of our locations. We are a fast growing, patient-centered, compassionate team!

Position Summary

We are now hiring for an Ophthalmic technician that will support a high-volume ophthalmic practice that focuses on providing quality and compassionate care to each patient needing complete eye care services.

Responsibilities

This position requires customer service skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a degree of independent decision-making.

 

Ophthalmic skills include:

Obtaining and documenting patient historyDetermining visual acuityPerforming automated and manual refraction for diagnostic purposesPerforming basic lensometryPupillary assessmentVisual field testingPAMBasic ocular motility assessmentAutomated keratometryOsmolarity testingAdministering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physicianPerforming office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient servicesMeasurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry)Pre-operative preparation of patientMaintaining equipment and instrumentsPerform ocular imaging including OCT, TopographyPost-operative education Qualifications

• 1+ years of ophthalmic technician experience required

• COA preferred

• Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required

• Must be flexible with traveling to various locations

• Ability to pay attention to detail

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• The ability to seek instruction in areas where he/she is not knowledgeable

• The ability to recognize inconsistencies

 

Education/Certifications:

• Graduation from an accredited high school
