Job Title: Operations Engineering Intern

Job Summary: The Operations Engineering Intern uses an engineering approach to help drive improvements which reduce complexity, lower operating costs, improve labor productivity, maximize throughput capacity and enhance customer speed of service.
Principal Duties:Assist on strategic Operations Engineering projects to develop operating processes that will improve productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.Assist in the testing and evaluate potential store equipment and supplies which are targeted for new initiatives or are required to improve current store performance. Work closely with Strategic Sourcing and equipment manufacturers to:maximize life cycle of equipmentdeliver great product qualityassure energy efficiency in designprovide a great customer experiencerecommend final designAssist Project Leaders with application of 3D Design Modeling to enhance store operating systems, work cell layouts, and equipment.Support day-to-day responsibilities within the Innovation & Design Center for flow of equipment and supplies and assist on mock-up of conceptual designs and execution of live process trials.Develop proper time study methodology and complete studies which analyze impact of labor, efficiency and capacity. Support Product Development with test and evaluation of new products and defining proper cooking methods to meet product quality standards. Conduct portioning testing as required.Assist with the design backroom systems to maximize storage needs for stores.Report out results to cross-functional teams through utilization of engineering analysis or technical presentations.Travel to stores to study processes, support roll-out of key programs and drive change.Essential Functions:

Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration or major in Industrial Engineering preferredStore experience preferredProficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft AccessExperience with Simulation Software, AutoCAD and/or 3D Design Modeling (Sketchup or Revit) preferredUnderstanding of process design and time study methodologiesMinimum GPA of 3.0 or HigherCandidates must be currently enrolled in a college or university for the Spring 2025 semester – Fall 2026 semesterCandidate must be available from May 19, 2025 – August 7, 2025Wawa currently observes a 4-day in office schedule Monday - Thursday with an opportunity to work remote on Friday.Wawa will provide reasonable accommodation to complete an application upon request, consistent with applicable law.
