The Operations Internship position is involved in manufacturing production achievements and implementation of process improvement activities at Michael Foods, Inc. This position should also enhance capabilities and provide a pipeline of future talent for Michael Foods. JOB ACTIVITIES: Be part of the plant operations team by assisting with daily production activities. Partner with operations supervisory team and work with CI, Quality, and Maintenance teams on process improvements and productivity goals for the plant. Major responsibilities include: Adhere to Safety and Environment policy Comply to Quality and Food Safety requirements Understand production demands, plans and requirements at SKU level Lead a team of operators and technicians through day-to-day process execution Track, monitor and drive results of key performance indicators (KPI’s): OEE and downtime calculations Process Loss Cost Impact Discover key leadership competency at the work place: Plan and align teamwork between departments & ensure accountability Manage complexity, ambiguity & conflict as needed Observe and discuss business insights & financial acumen Collaborate & communicate effectively Focus on the needs of the customer Opportunity to be involved in: Productivity Teams: problem solving and continuous improvement activities Data collection and manipulation Process and equipment capacity analysis Trouble shooting and equipment setup alongside the maintenance and operations teams Qualifications Qualifications: Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program related to business management or engineering field Basic understanding of OEE, plant performance, root cause analysis, 5S, the continuous improvement process and Six Sigma tools Excellent verbal and oral communication skills and be able to influence others (speaking Spanish is a plus) Eager to learn and challenge yourself (strong initiative, self-directed, detail oriented, and reliable) Strong statistical skills include but not limited to statistical process control (SPC), capacity analysis, linear regressions, categorical data analysis and design of experiment (DOE) Proficient in Microsoft Office (any CMMS experience is a plus) Be able to work 10 consecutive weeks during the months of May - August, 2024.
