Job Title: Operations Assistant

Job Description

The Operations Assistant role at a 3rd party food testing company focuses specifically on front-end operations. This is the first step in the process, involving package receipt, general sample handling techniques, and project sorting (triage activities).

ResponsibilitiesWork with a conveyor system to open boxes and confirm the accuracy of invoices with the contents of the box. Troubleshoot issues such as insufficient samples, incorrect samples, or broken containers, and communicate with CSR to follow up with the client.Sort samples after triage and organize them by priority before moving them to Sample Entry for database entry.Move samples to the appropriate location after Sample Entry, either to Sample Prep for further processing or directly to the lab freezers.Scan samples into the database.Assist with labeling samples and creating labels as needed.Essential SkillsExperience as a lab assistant, sample prep, solution prep, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, zoology, or sample coordinator.High school diploma.Data entry skills.Customer service experience.Logistics experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in food service or production.Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.Attention to detail with strong documentation skills.Comfortable working independently.Reliability and strong references.Work Environment

The position requires standing for the majority of the day (90%+). Candidates must be flexible to average 5 hours of overtime per week based on workload. The work is conducted in the triage area with a new conveyor system. The lab has seen a 20% increase in sample prep tests and added more levels/roles, offering more promotional opportunities. The work environment is fast-paced and can be repetitive, depending on the group. This lab tests food and dietary supplements for nutritional value, and the role involves getting tests out according to client timeframes. Education reimbursement is available for tuition, registration, and laboratory fees.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
