Operational Survey Coordinator

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Operational Survey Coordinator lead for the survey team on survey operations associated with engineering and construction projects, and to oversee construction sites, specifically:

Responsible within the Marine Operations department for analysing survey data gathered from projects and to provide professional advice on processing and interpretation

Responsible for coordinating the mobilisation and calibration of the survey navigation solutions

Supporting the Survey Department of the Installation Department in the creation of pre-lay survey plans, including budgets and execution works

Responsible for coordinating the operation of the navigation survey equipment and software on board Prysmian owned vessels and Vessels of Opportunity

In conducting these operations is expected to be proactive in monitoring and controlling offshore operations and frequently visiting offshore operations as appropriate.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and development of Hydrographic Survey Methodologies for nearshore and offshore cable installation operations

Jobsite Reconnaissance ahead of Installation Operations

Analysis, interpretation and benchmark testing of Survey Geodetics and Survey Control Parameters

Production and management of Survey Procedures, to include;

Mobilisation and Calibration Procedures

Survey Positioning Procedures

Survey Operations Procedures

Coordination of Mobilisation and Demobilisation of Vessels and Subsea Vehicles, including Prysmian own vessels and Vessels of Opportunity

Responsible for coordinating the testing and Calibration of all survey sensors, onshore and offshore, including Dimensional Control Surveys.

Oversee the preparation and testing of Survey Equipment in advance of mobilisation

Oversee the Inspection, Maintenance and Repair of Survey Equipment onshore and offshore.

Analysis and Quality Control of acquired and processed Survey data during and post installation

Analysis and Quality Control of all installation Survey Reports

Survey Team personnel analysis and selection with Agencies, including cost control making sure all costs are managed according to budget.

Management of terrestrial and offshore Survey Teams

Ensure sufficient resources are identified, secured and managed to maintain effective business support relevant to the operational survey works.

Promote and participate in HSEQ activities to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.

Coordinating preparation, engineering and cost controlling together with the Installation Asset Operations Manager and Company Installation General Operations Manager.

Responsible for the operational management of subcontractors for survey equipment, including manning, delegating to competent resources as required

To support business development in the pre-qualification stage of tenders

Ensure all Company Projects are supported throughout their life cycle from inception through to delivery and documenting of lessons learnt and that installation projects are designed, planned and delivered.

Be prepared to conduct Operational presentations to customers and industry seminars.

Responsible for reviewing, enhancing and maintaining technical assets specific procedures, making sure the information circulates efficiently within the department.

Function requires significant travel on an international basis.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

Should have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. To be in Hydrographic Surveying with a Category A accreditation.

Extensive management and project management experience.

Extensive knowledge of the Hydrographic Survey discipline.

Extensive knowledge of survey equipment, with the application and methodologies thereof, for both surface and subsea positioning solutions.

Extensive knowledge of geographical software including GIS, CAD and all the survey specific software.

Minimum Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior role involved in the management and operations of survey works. Will have delivered on a number of industry related projects across a range of sectors and customers.

Substantial offshore experience with a thorough understanding of Operations Management and Offshore cable installation activities in shallow, mid and deep-water in the offshore Power cable environment.

Extensive knowledge of satellite, surface and subsea positioning solutions. Including measurement and error analysis.

Practical experience of Ships and Subsea & Navigation Survey systems

An effective communicator with knowledge of the cable industry and a successful track record in delivering and supporting offshore projects. 

Experienced in offshore Submarine power cables and their capabilities with successful adherence to health, safety & environmental targets in a highly regulated industry.

Proven man-management experience of successfully managing multi-disciplined teams in a technical offshore engineering environment in Cable Lay, Umbilical Lay and Subsea construction.  Must be able to clearly demonstrate credibility and gravitas as a coordinator of offshore personnel.
