Carollo Engineers is an internationally recognized environmental engineering firm that specializes in the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater facilities. We are seeking an Operational Resilience Professional.
As a member of the Carollo team, the Operational Resilience Professional will play a role in advancing the Operational Resilience elements of the Resilience and Sustainability Technical Practice. This position combines technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership to deliver effective solutions that enhance the security and resilience of water and wastewater systems. The successful candidate will lead the development of technical resources, foster client relationships, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address complex challenges. Additionally, they will support the practice's growth through the coordination of strategic activities, such as creating marketing materials, managing proposals, developing intellectual property and technologies, and organizing resources. The position requires periodic travel (in Canada and the USA) to client sites in alignment with project needs.
ResponsibilitiesManagement Responsibilities
Coordinate Initiatives: Assist with the leadership and development of Operational Resilience services by managing the creation of marketing materials, proposals, and intellectual property while engaging with Business Development managers to identify and develop new opportunities.Project Management: Serve as a project manager for multiple clients, overseeing scope, schedule, and deliverables while ensuring alignment with client needs and project objectives.Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with engineers, planners, and professionals across our geographic regions to deliver solutions that address client challenges effectively.Support Practice-Wide Growth: Work closely with the Technical Practice Director to advance the goals of the Resilience and Sustainability Practice, including practice-wide tasks and initiatives.Mentor Team Members: Provide guidance, and mentorship to junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing to strengthen team capabilities.Internal BCP and Security: Assist as needed with development and delivery of corporate business continuity and physical security programs.Technical Responsibilities
Conduct Risk and Vulnerability Assessments: Identify and evaluate threats to water and wastewater systems using industry-standard methodologies, such as AWWA J100. Develop actionable strategies to mitigate risks.Contribute to Emergency and Security Plans: Deliver client-specific plans addressing preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation, aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.Technical Expertise: Develop expertise and serve as a subject matter expert while developing company capabilities in emergency management, security, risk management, and simulation-based training/exercise. Contribute to project success and mentor team members where appropriate.Presentations and Documentation: Prepare and deliver clear, concise technical documentation and presentations to diverse audiences, including company leaders and colleagues, clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental), Security or Emergency Management, or a related discipline.Training or coursework in security engineering, critical infrastructure protection, or emergency management. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental), Security or Emergency Management, or a related discipline.
