No Duties and Responsibilities Job Summary:  Under general direction, responsible to perform skilled maintenance, repairs and operation of equipment and systems in support of University central heating and cooling operations and environmental controls.  Duties & Responsibilities:  The Operating Engineer will be under the direct supervision of the Chief and Assistant Chief Engineers. Duties include, but not limited to operating or assisting in the operation of: - all HVAC equipment  - motors, turbines, combustion engines, and pumps - air compressors - ice/refrigeration equipment - chillers (centrifugal, screw & reciprocating)  - hot water boilers - low pressure steam boiler - elevators - fire suppression systems  - ADA equipment - building automation systems (BAS) - may at times be needed to assist with snow removal - other duties as assigned  Minimum Education and/or Work Experience - High School Diploma, Trade School or GED graduate and three years of related experience; member of Local 399 Operating Engineers Union or enrollment in said union within 90 days of accepting position as operating engineer.
- Licenses: City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License. Qualifications High School Diploma, Trade School or GED graduate and three years of related experience; member of Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers or enrollment in Local 399 within 90 days of accepting position as operating engineer.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses City of Chicago Stationary Engineer LicenseMust be in good standing with IUOE Local 399Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing, and maintain the license while employed as an operating engineer Computer Skills - proficient in the operation of building automation systems (Delta Controls and Precision Controls System)- advanced user of Microsoft office software- advanced user of computerized maintenance management software (ARCHIBUS) Supervisory Responsibilities No Required operation of university owned vehicles Yes Does this position require direct animal or patient contact?
