Posting Number: F00942P Department: Speech Language Hearing Salary Range: Negotiable Pay Basis: Monthly Position Status: Academic Year Location: Richardson Job Summary: Position Description The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) seeks to fill a clinical instructional faculty position in Audiology (Clinical Professor, open rank). This position requires eligibility for licensure as an audiologist in the state of Texas, certification by either the American Board of Audiology ( ABAC ) or the American Speech-Language Hearing Association ( CCC -A), and the ability to provide clinical supervision. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level courses within the successful applicants’ discipline in addition to clinical instructional responsibilities. Applicants with the ability to teach in practice management or advanced diagnostics, including vestibular assessment, auditory processing, and evoked potentials, are encouraged. Clinical Professors also advise AuD students, lead laboratory training exercises, mentor required AuD research projects, serve on program, department, school, and university committees, participate in student development activities, and perform administrative duties as appropriate. Teaching load, practicum responsibilities, and other duties are assigned based on needs determined by the appropriate Program Head, Department Chair, and Dean. Clinical Professor is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure system position with opportunities for summer salary. The appointment will commence for the fall 2025 semester. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: A clinical doctorate in Audiology, clinical credentials, licensure, and previous clinical supervision experience are required prior to employment as a Clinical Professor. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences. Preferred Education and Experience: A doctoral degree in Communication Sciences or a related field (e.g. Speech, Language and Hearing, Communication Disorders, Neuroscience, Psychology, Linguistics, Phonetics) and demonstrated ability to teach a variety of core, advanced and elective undergraduate courses are preferred. Candidates seeking Associate Clinical Professor or Full Clinical Professor appointments should have experience and qualifications commensurate with those positions. The Department and School The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing is home to a thriving undergraduate program with multiple tracks that support students with diverse career interests, highly regarded clinical education programs in both Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, and a robust PhD program. All faculty teach undergraduate and graduate level courses within their discipline and area of expertise. The UT Dallas Doctor of Audiology program is one of the top-ranked programs in the United States and is housed within state-of-art facilities located at the UT Dallas Callier Centers for Communication Disorders in both the Dallas medical district near the UT Southwestern Medical Center as well as the main campus of UT Dallas in Richardson. The Callier Centers house clinical education suites and individual and core laboratories in addition to its comprehensive clinical facilities. Co-localization of clinical and research facilities with clinical education suites at the Callier Center enhances opportunities for clinical and translational research efforts. Callier Center clinicians evaluate and provide treatment to more than 4,000 children and adults, with more than 20,000 patient visits annually. Clinical and translational research programs in speech, language, and hearing disciplines are additionally facilitated by the new UT Dallas Clinical and Translational Research Center and access to the UT Dallas Sammons BrainHealth Imaging Center. SLH clinical faculty have opportunities for vibrant interdisciplinary collaborations with additional UT Dallas Centers including the Center for Vital Longevity, Center for BrainHealth, Center for Children and Families, Texas Biomedical Device Center, and Center for Advanced Pain Studies, as well as the UT Dallas Bioengineering and Electrical Engineering programs and the UT Southwestern Medical Center.
